Kozhikode Beach | Timings & Floating Bridge

Kozhikode Beach, also known as Calicut Beach, is on the Malabar Coast. The beach road was named ‘Gandhi Road’ after Mahatma Gandhi visited Calicut in 1934. The place has always been important for hosting public meetings. It has a long drive from Beypore to Kappad. The beach timings are 06:00 am to 10:00 pm.

The Beach is perfect for witnessing the orange sunsets in Calicut. It is the best-visited Beach in Calicut as it is the central Beach of the place. This entire stretch is known as Beach Road. Situated on the western side of Kozhikode town, the Beach is easily obtainable through 4 roads over bridges. The Beach has ample glow and paving stones.

Best time to visit Kozhikode Beach:

Since Kerala experiences an extreme climate, the summer months are sweltering here. Calicut exhibits pleasant weather from September to May. The months after May experience a humid environment. Hence, September to May is the best time to visit the Beach.

Kozhikode Beach Floating Bridge:

Kerala State Tourism Department has set up Kerala’s First Floating Bridge at the Beach. Tourists can now walk on the top of the ocean waves along the bridge as waves hit the Beach. The length of the bridge is 100 meters, and the width is 3 meters.

It has made up of high-density Polyethylene blocks, which can carry 500 people at a time, but due to safety purposes, as of now, only 50 people are allowed to wear life jackets. A 15-meter-wide platform at the end of the bridge stretches out to the sea.

Big Bazaar: 

Big Bazaar has located on the Beach’s southern side near Valiyangad, part of the Beach. It has one Gujarathi Street and a Halwa Street in this locality.

Water Activities: 

Swimming, diving, and boating here give a breathtaking view of Calicut’s coastline. Water Skiing, Paragliding, Snorkeling and Jet Skiing are some water sports giving you goosebumps on your visit.
