Later, during the reign of the Zamorin of Calicut (also known as Samoothiri), who had the distinguished title of Sailabdheswara, the Temple attained its pinnacle.

Tali Temple History:

According to history, the Temple was a local village temple. 50 Namboothiri families have taken of the Temple. One thousand-five hundred years ago, the Temple became significant. Zamorins executed the Namboothiri families and took over the Temple.

So, it came under the control of the Zamorins. Another Zamorin, Manavikraman, redesigned the Temple. It is still under the control of Zamorins.

When Tipu Sultan entered Kozhikode in the 18th century, he almost destroyed the Temple. In 1964, they modified the Temple again. Furthermore, the Temple is a gift from God to the area’s people. They believe it has brought prosperity to Kozhikode. Some historians say the people constructed the Temple before creating the city.
