Tali Shiva Temple is one of the oldest temples in Kozhikode. Swamy Thirumulapad constructed the Temple. The holiness of this ancient Temple is inextricably related to the founding and success of Kozhikode. People believe that Parasurama has placed the lingam in the Temple’s sanctum near the conclusion of the Dvapara Yuga. Tali temple timings are from 3:30 AM to 8:30 PM.
The sanctum stance is that of Umamaheswara. Though this holy power has existed since the beginning of time, only about 1500 years ago, the residents of Kozhikode began to pay attention to the Temple. Later, during the reign of the Zamorin of Calicut (also known as Samoothiri), who had the distinguished title of Sailabdheswara, the Temple attained its pinnacle.
