The Hoollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary rename on 25 May 2004, firstly known as the Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary or Hollongapar Reserve Forest. It contains Northeastern India’s only nocturnal primate – the Bengal slow loris and India’s only gibbons – the hoolock gibbons. The forest’s upper canopy is dominated by the Hollong tree, while the Nahar (Mesua ferrea) dominates the middle top. The lower top consists of evergreen shrubs and herbs. They were established in 1997. Area: 20.99 km². Hoollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary Timings are open 24 hours.

It has identified in the late 1980s, and The Hollongapar reserved forest as a potential wildlife sanctuary during a primate survey. The Hollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary has located in the civil district of Jorhat in Assam, India. It was set aside as a “Reserve Forest” (RF) on 27 August 1881 and name after its dominant tree species, Dipterocarpus macrocarpus or Hollong.
