Devotees believed that Narayana Guru, the Temple’s founder, had a dream in which he saw a group of Brahmins performing a ritual on the banks of the Ganges River. In the dream, Narayana Guru approached the Brahmins and asked them to perform a puja for him. However, the Brahmins refused, saying he was from a lower caste and could not participate in the puja.
Narayana Guru was deeply hurt by the Brahmins’ refusal and created a temple where people from all castes and religions could worship. He searched for a suitable location and eventually found a plot of land in Kudroli, a small village outside Mangalore.
Narayana Guru then performed a puja and consecrated the land, and the construction of the Kudroli Gokarnath Temple began. The Temple was built with the help of people from all castes and religions, symbolizing unity and social justice.
Today, the Kudroli Gokarnath Temple is a place of worship and a symbol of Narayana Guru’s vision of equality and unity among people of all castes and religions.
