Historians say that a long time ago, a Vaishya (a person who comes from the community that takes care of cattle) consecrated Lord Kaleshwar Mukteshwar with hundreds of milk pots, and the milk developed at Sangamam, the Sangam, Confluence of Godavari and Pranahita. Since then, the temple had known to all the people of Andhra Pradesh.
