Shivaratri & Navaratri are famous festivals in this temple when people from the neighbouring districts visit this temple. 

Since Lord Shiva destroyed the three cities along with the demons, he is known as Tripuranthakeswara, and this place is Tripuranthakam. Tripurantakeswara Swamy temple is on the hilltop, and it has believed that there is a secret underground passage from the temple premises to Srisailam.
