Radha Rani Temple is a Hindu temple in Barsana, Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, known as Shreeji(Shrij) Temple and Shri Laadli Lal Temple. The goddess Radha has a temple dedicated to her. Radha Krishna, the Temple’s main deity, has been worshipped as Shri Laadli Lal. It means beloved daughter and son of the town. Timings are 5 am to 9 pm.

Shri Laadli Lal (meaning “dear daughter”) and Shri Laadli Lal (meaning “beloved son”) are the Temple’s principal deities. Barsana temple is known as Radha Rani or Shriji temple (Shreeji temple). Barsana is a holy place and also the birthplace of Shri Radha Rani Ji. This Temple has numerous names, such as Shri Ladli Maharaj Temple, Shri Ji Temple, and Barsana Temple. 

History of Radha Rani Temple Barsana

Shriji (Shreeji) Temple has thought to have been built around 5000 years ago by King Vajranabh (Krishna’s great-grandson). The Temple is in ruins; the icons were discovered by Narayan Bhatt (a disciple of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu), and the Temple has built by Raja Veer Singh in 1675 AD.

With its arches, pillars, and red sandstone, Shri Laadli Lal Temple looks like a structure dating back to the Mughal era. The Temple looks like a magnificent red sandstone palace and has decorated with intricate hand carvings, domes, beautiful arches and exquisite paintings on its inner walls and ceilings.

Red and white stones are here to construct the Temple, symbolizing the love of Radha and Krishna. The Temple extends to the top of Bhanugarh hills, about 250 meters in height.

Festivals at Radha Rani Temple

On festival days, the Temple has decorated with flowers, balloons and lights. The deities have dressed in new dresses and jewellery. After performing Aarti, 56 dishes, also called “Chappan Bhog”, are offered to Radha Krishna, which later get distributed to the devotees as “Prasada”. Lathmar Holi is also one of the notable festivals of this Temple.
