History of Karmanghat Hanuman Temple
The temple was built in the 12th Century AD; a Kakatiya King went hunting in a forest, felt tired, and rested under a tree. While he was sleeping, he heard the chanting of Lord Rama. The King went into the forest to find where the voice was coming from.
After walking deep into the forest, he finds an idol of Lord Hanuman in sitting posture, and the voice is coming from the Stone idol. The King paid his respect and left for his capital. The same night Lord Hanuman appeared in his dream and asked him to construct a temple. The King made the temple, and all the kings after ruled it well.
After 400 years, Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb ordered his armies to demolish the Hindu Temples all over the Country. The troops could not even enter near the compound wall of the temple. Aurangzeb heard and came with his crowbar in his hand to destroy the temple. He reached the temple premises listened to a continuous roaring sound; The King slipped his crowbar in fear.
He listened to a thundering voice from the heavens saying, “Mandir thodna hai raja, tho kar man ghat”, which means if you want to destroy the temple, make your heart stone. That is why the place got the name Karmanghat. To this day, Lord Anjaneya sits peacefully meditating and blessing devotees. Pilgrims call Dhyana Anjaneya Swamy, the main deity of the temple.
