If you are planning a trip to Tirupati, you must include Talakona Waterfalls also on your journey. Talakona Falls are in Sri Venkateswara National Park, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh, near Tirupati, with accommodation facilities. Talakona Waterfalls timings are from 6 AM to 7:30 PM. There are also facilities to travel from Tirupati to Talakona.

The height of 270 feet (82 meters) is the highest waterfall in Andhra Pradesh. Talakona was also familiar with Lord Siddheswara Swamy Temple, located close to the waterfalls.

Talakona is at Nerabailu Village, Yerravaripalem Mandal Chittor District. It is famous for its waterfalls and has a resort in dense forests and wildlife. For its wide variety of flora and fauna, this place was declared a biosphere reserve in 1989.

The meaning of Talakona Waterfall is tala which means head, and Kona means hill, combined and called “the head of Seshachalam hills.” These mountains start from the Tirumala mountain ranges.

This place hosts rare animal species such as Indian Giant Squirrel, Slender Loris, Golden Gecko, Mouse Deer, Porcupine, Panther, Chital, and Sambar, which most of them are endangered.

The best time to visit the waterfalls is between November to January. The origin of the water is difficult to find, and the underground stream suddenly surfaces here. People believe that this water has healing properties because of its passing through different herbs of medicinal value.

The Waterfalls are one of the beauty and greenery. The nearest tourist attractions are a trekking route to the top of the hill, an ancient Shiva temple which devotees crowd on Maha Shivarathri festival, deep caves where sages meditate, etc.

Talakona Accommodation

In Talakona Waterfalls, accommodation is also available in the dense forest. Forest Guest House and TTD Guest House are two different guesthouses. Talakona waterfalls rooms booking are available in those guest houses.

The Forest department of AP maintains the Forest guest houses in which six suite rooms at a reasonable cost of Rs 600/- per day and 2 Dormitories with Rs 1000/- per day. TTD guest Houses are mainly for pilgrims, and there are 12 rooms for Rs 250/- per day.

How to Reach Talakona Waterfalls from Tirupati

Talakona waterfall is 60 km from Tirupati, and people can reach it in many ways.

By Air: The nearest airport is Tirupati Renigunta which is 75km from the waterfalls.

Train: The nearest railway station is the Tirupati railway station which is 65km from the waterfalls.

Bus: To reach the Talakona waterfall, there are several buses from Bhakarapeta, and many people depend on their transport to get.

Tirupati to Talakona Bus timings:

There is a direct bus from Tirupati to Talakona central bus stand, the bus starts at 7:30 AM, and the return bus is at 4 PM from Talakona.
