Talakona Waterfalls – Timings & Accommodation

If planning a trip to Tirupati, you must also include Talakona Waterfalls on your journey. Talakona Falls is in Sri Venkateswara National Park, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh, near Tirupati, and has accommodation facilities. Talakona Waterfall’s timings are from 6 AM to 7:30 PM. There are also facilities for travelling from Tirupati to Talakona.

The height of 270 feet (82 meters) is the highest waterfall in Andhra Pradesh. Talakona was also familiar with Lord Siddheswara Swamy Temple, located close to the waterfalls.

Talakona is at Nerabailu Village, Yerravaripalem Mandal Chittor District. It is famous for its waterfalls and has a resort with dense forests and wildlife. This place was declared a biosphere reserve for its wide variety of flora and fauna in 1989.

Talakona Waterfall means tala, head, and Kona, which means hill, combined and called “the head of Seshachalam hills.” These mountains start from the Tirumala mountain ranges.

This place hosts rare animal species such as Indian Giant Squirrel, Slender Loris, Golden Gecko, Mouse Deer, Porcupine, Panther, Chital, and Sambar, most of which are endangered.

The best time to visit the waterfalls is between November to January. The origin of the water is difficult to find, and the underground stream suddenly surfaces here. People believe this water has healing properties because it passes through different herbs of medicinal value.

The Waterfalls are one of the beauty and greenery. The nearest tourist attractions are a trekking route to the top of the hill, an ancient Shiva temple where devotees crowd during the Maha Shivarathri festival, deep caves where sages meditate, etc.

Talakona Accommodation

Accommodation is also available in Talakona Waterfalls, which is a dense forest. Forest Guest House and TTD Guest House are two different guesthouses. Talakona waterfall room booking is available at those guest houses. The Forest Department of AP maintains the Forest guest houses with six suite rooms at a reasonable cost of Rs 600/- per day and 2 Dormitories at Rs 1000/- per day. TTD guest Houses are mainly for pilgrims, and there are 12 rooms for Rs 250/- per day.

How to Reach Talakona Waterfalls from Tirupati

The waterfall is 60 km from Tirupati, and people can reach it in many ways.

By Air: The nearest airport is Tirupati Renigunta, 75km from the waterfalls.

Train: The nearest railway station is the Tirupati railway station, 65km from the waterfalls.

Bus: Several buses from Bhakarapeta can reach the Talakona waterfall, and many depend on their transport.

There is a direct bus from Tirupati to Talakona central bus stand. The bus starts at 7:30 AM, and the return bus is at 4 PM.
