Ranjangaoan Ganapati Temple

Ranjangaon Ganpati temple is the eighth temple visited by devotees who go on a tour/darshan of the Divine Ashtavinayaka. The idol of Mahaganapati in Ranjangaon is the most potent replica of Ganesha.

During events or Ganesh Jayati days, there are many small shops here for shopping and the sweet offerings of Lord Ganesha.

Mahaganapati temple timings

Ranjangaon Ganapati is depicted as seated on a lotus, surrounded by his wives Siddhi (spiritual power) and Riddhi (prosperity). The idol of Ganesha is also known as ‘Mahotkat’ and is said to have ten trunks and 20 arms.

Ranjangaon Ganapati is depicted as having eight, ten or twelve hands. After worshipping this Ganapati form, Lord Shiva killed a demon named Tripurasuru. Hence, he is also known as Tripurarivade Mahaganapati.

The place where Lord Shiva called Ganesha and defeated Tripura is believed to be Ranjangaon (Ranjan means happy), which is known as Manipur.

History

Ranjangaon Ganapati temple was built between the ninth and tenth centuries. The temple is built so that the sun’s rays fall directly on the idol of Lord Ganesha.

As the temple is on the way to war, the darshan of Srimant Madhavarao Peshwa Mahaganapati ends here.

Madhava Rao made a room in the storm cellar of the temple to house the Peshwa Ganesh idol. He built a stone sanctum around this self-contained or self-illuminating idol.

In 1790 A.D., he gave the genetic link suitable for worshipping Sri Anyaba to Mahaganapati.

Sardar Kibe served the temple hall, and the Owaris (some small flats that grew up around the temple mass) were served by Sardar Pawar and Shinde.

The famous saint Morya Goswami’s five metal idols were presented to Sri Anyaba Dev. On happy days, the statue is taken out in procession.

Nagarkhana had set up at the entrance of the road. The Nagarkhana was inaugurated on May 3, 1997, by Shri Manohar Joshi, the good Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

The primary temple resembles a Peshwa temple. The temple on the east side has a magnificent & picturesque entrance.

Mahaganapati Temple Festivals and Events

In Ranjangaon, the villagers do not have an idol of Ganesha in their homes. Instead, everyone goes to the temple for Ganesh Puja during Bhadrapada.

During the Bhadrapada period, an unusual sixth day of festivities takes place, during which Mahabhog had offered to the temple deity Lord Ganesha on the fifth day.
