History:

The legend says that Parameshwara decided to perform the powerful Yaga, Poundareeka Yaga, which benefits the Earth. Mukthaka Rushi, Real Shiva, took responsibility for the Yaga. Narada got the information about the Yaga through Janu and Sumandalas and decided to abolish the Yaga. Narada consulted the Demon’s teacher, Shukracharya. While disturbing the Yaga, Janu and Sumandalas sent their army.

Mukkthaka defeated the army then Janu and Sumandalas got angry and fought against Mukthaka with Shoorabahu and Ghatodaras. Now, Mukhthaka got defeated by them and performed Yaga with Parvathi, and Parvati came out from Yagnakunda. She knew about their blessings from Bramha that they could not be killed with any weapons. She then used her sixth sense to kill them. This is the reason the deity is called “Nimishamba”.
