Mopidevi Temple:

Mopidevi temple is one of the famous temples located 80km from Vijayawada in a village called Mopidevi. The deity is in the form of Siva lingam, self-manifested(swayambhu).

This Temple is famous for “childless couples for children” and other poojas like sarpadosha nivarana pooja, Rahu Ketu pooja... etc. This Temple is also called Subramanyeswar Swamy temple.

There is a belief that if the married couple sleeps in the Temple, they are blessed with children.

History of Mopidevi Temple:

The Siva lingam in this Temple was a self-manifested one. According to the legend, there was a potter named Veeravarapu Parvathalu, who was a great devotee.

The deity was pleased with his devotion and once came into his dream, asking him to dig up the anthill to find his lingam. So veeravarapu Parvathalu gathered the villagers of mopidevi and told them about his dream. As the villagers started digging the anthill, they found the shiva lingam.

As soon as he found the lingam, they started to prepare the idols of horse, cock, Nandi and garuda, which are the favourite of the lord Subramanyeswar Swamy. The villagers, including Veeravarapu Parvathalu, started worshipping the god.
