Laknavaram Lake in the Bhupalapalli district of Telangana state had locally known as Laknavaram Cheruvu. The Lake covered an area of ​​over 10,000 acres and was built by the Kakatiya clans when Warangal served as the capital.

The history of Laknavaram Lake dates back to the Kakatiya period. Also known as Laknavaram Lake, the Kakatiya rulers first discovered this Lake. They found a beautiful lake lying around it, surrounded by luxuriant hills.

The Kakatiya rulers built a small sluice gate which eventually turned into a vast lake that now serves as a water reservoir.

The Laknavaram Lake remains an irrational water source for about 3,500 acres of land for six nearby villages. It has a storage capacity of about 2.135 TMCs of water.

The uniqueness of Laknavaram is that there are 13 small islands in the Lake and three individual suspension bridges 160 meters long, connecting the three islands to the main shore.

Ramappa Temple

Ramappa Temple, also known as Ramalingeswara Temple after the presiding deity of the temple, is about 30 km from Laknavaram Lake, and you have to travel about 40 minutes to reach there.

The temple had located in the valley of Palampet village in Venkatapur Mandal, a quaint town with a rich and extensive history.

The temple had placed on a 6-meter high star-shaped pedestal, and there are two shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva on either side of the temple and the Nandi idol in the temple facing the Lord Shiva shrine.

Bogatha waterfalls: 

Bogatha Falls is a good eco-tourism attraction located in the heart of the forest, about 70 km from the Laknavaram Lake in Koyaveerapuram District, Khammam District of Telangana.

These are said to be the second largest waterfalls in Telangana and are known as Telangana Niagara and Telangana Niagara Waterfall by the locals.

Eturunagaram Wildlife Sanctuary

Telangana has extensive wildlife reserves; Eturunagaram Wildlife Sanctuary had located at Ethurunagaram village in Jayashankar district, 50 km from Lake Laknavaram. The wildlife sanctuary covers an area of ​​806 square kilometers, and it is said to be one of the elder sanctuaries in Telangana, opened in 1952.
