History of Kulpakji Jain Mandir
Kulpakji Mandir is a 2000 years old Jain Mandir. During the rile of Sanfkaragana (9th Century), a grant mentioned a gift to basadi found at Akunur. At the period of Rashtrakutas, Kolanupaka flourished as a Jain center. In Kulpak, over 20 Jain inscriptions found and suggested that the Kulpak is the primary center of Kranur Gana of Mula Sangh.
It is believed that Mandodari immersed the Jinneshwar Statue and worshiped during Ravana kidnapped Devi Sita. After many years Shankar, a King of Karnataka, found the same idol and brought back from the sea.
On his way home, he halted at Kolanupaka, when he is about to start to his destination, and he is unable to move from there. Then the king decided to build the glorious temple for the idol there at Kolanupaka. Likewise, the Kolanupaka temple came into existence.
