Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple is a precious and revered Hindu shrine about 10 kilometres from Kottayam to Kumarakom. The rulers reconstructed the temple structure in 717 ME (1542 AD), complete with gopuram and fortress. Inside and outside the main entrance are Dravidian mural paintings on the walls.
Pradosha Nritham (Shiva’s Dance) is India’s most beautiful wall painting. Inside the temple, there is a golden flagstaff. A bull statue surrounded by little bells and metal banyan tree leaves is present on its top.
This temple stands out as an ultimate testament to the Vishwakarma Sthapathis’ architectural abilities in terms of architecture. Copper sheets wrap the temple roofs, which have 14 decorative tops.

According to mythology, Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma, the founder of the Travancore empire, gave it to the temple.
