About EME Temple

Its architecture is so diverse that it attracts many people from different countries to experience the beauty of the temple. The temple mainly houses a small Ganesh and a huge Shiva idol. 

A silver arch had also engraved with the sacred words ‘Om Namah Shivaya’. The temple had surrounded by a garden containing a rich collection of 106 ancient idols dating back to the 7th to 12th centuries. Due to its special design, the temple attracts many people.

EME Temple had built in the year 1966. EME stands for Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corps of the Indian Army. The temple was planned, sketched and built under the direction of the then-Christian Commandant of the EME School, Brig AF Eugene.

What is the History of EME Temple?

The presiding god of the temple is Shiva. The temple is surrounded by small shrines of saints and deities, creating a replica of the holy Amarnath temple, which houses ancient deities dating back to the 7th to 12th centuries.

Built-in classic geodesic architecture, the Temple is a perfect example of the values ​​on which the Indian Army had founded. The exterior of the structure had carved with sacred symbols of various religions. Each structure of the building represents a different faith –

  • The ‘Kalash’ on top of the Gopuram symbolises Hinduism. 
  • The dome appears in the design of mosques, thus representing Islam.
  • The tower symbolises Christianity. 
  • The golden cap on top of the tower symbolises Buddhism 
  • The main entrance of the temple is on the Jain path 
  • The fire in the temple symbolises what Zoroastrianism indicates.
