Bharat Mata Mandir in Haridwar had dedicated to ‘Bharat Mata’. ‘Bharata Mata’ means ‘Mother India’. This multi-storied building had built with an unusual concept. Bharat Mata Mandir’s timings are from 5 AM to 12 noon and 02:00 PM to 09:00 PM.

 History of Bharat Mata Mandir Haridwar

This temple had dedicated to everyone who significantly impacted the struggle for freedom. This temple had built before the partition of India. 

Bharat Mata Temple had located two kilometres away from the cantonment territory. Representing the Goddess, the Bharat Mata Temple is a beautiful reminder of a unified India.

Bharat Mata Temple is a one-of-a-kind temple founded by Swami Sathyamitrananda Giri. It is sacred to Mother India and her cultural glory. An organization called Vishwa Hindu Parishad built Bharat Mata Mandir. 

Late Prime Minister of India, Smt. Indira Gandhi inaugurated the temple on May 15, 1983. Renowned sculptor Abanindranath Tagore depicted Mother India as a Hindu goddess.

She is depicted with four arms, dressed in saffron robes, holding a book, pieces of rice, a garland, and a white cloth.

The marble statue on the map of India designed on the grounds of Bharata Mata Mandir is a little grand and lofty in structure. It has a marble Bharat Mata symbol representing India and a marble map of India designed on the floor.

This temple is different from many other temples. It does not honour a particular god or Goddess favoured by religious devotees. The floors of Bharat Mata Temple had dedicated to many different deities and mythological heroes.

People can visit Bharat Mata Mandir from 5 AM to 12 noon. There will be an afternoon break from 12 noon to 2 PM. The evening darshan starts at 2 PM, and the temple closes at 9 PM.

The temple’s height was 180 feet, and the temple had spread over eight floors. Each floor level had dedicated to several different gods and mythological heroes. We have tried to give a short detailed description of it in the following list – 

First Floor-Bharat Mata:

The first floor had dedicated to Bharat Mata. A divine statue of Mother India adorns the floor, along with a designed map of India. 

Second Floor – Shur Mandir:

The second floor is commonly known as Shur Mandir. It had dedicated to all the freedom fighters that played their role in our freedom.

Third Floor – Matru Mandir:

The third floor represents the revered women of our culture. It had dedicated to honouring women like Ahalya, Savitri, Anusuya, Radha, Draupadi, Meera etc. 

Fourth Floor – Sant Mandir:

Every great saint from different religions of India, including Jainism, Buddhism and Sikhism, is found on this floor. 

Fifth Floor – Assembly Hall:

The floor has a lobby decorated with works of art. It depicts the history and richness of various regions. 

Sixth Floor – Shakti:

It had dedicated to the manifestation of Goddess Shakti. Goddesses like Durga, Parvati, Sati, Radha, Saraswati, and Kali are present here. 

Seventh floor – Lord Vishnu:

This floor had dedicated to the manifestations and forms of Lord Vishnu. It includes Rama, Krishna and Matsya. 

Eight floor – Lord Shiva:

The highest level offers a spectacular view. The Himalayan mountain range and Sapta Sarovar can see from here.

Independence Day:

August 15 had celebrated as Independence Day in Bharat Mata Mandir. The holiday had celebrated by people across India with flag hoisting. 

There are celebrations and parades as well as cultural events. People play patriotic songs on loudspeakers and radio channels across the country. The day had also celebrated with flag hoisting in the temple. 

Republic Day:

January 26 is the Republic Day of India. Republic Day honours the day the Constitution of India came into force.

It replaced the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India. Like other parts of the country, this temple celebrates the day with great pomp and grandeur.
