According to the legends, in Dwaparayuga, Balarama’s brother Lord Krishna brought the Nagavali river with his plough. He also built the sun temple on the river bank.

All other deva devas worshipped Lord Rudra and Goddess Parvathi in this temple. The god Indra arrives late and tries to enter the temple. But the Nandi stops him from entering the temple.

Indra tries to enter the temple again, but the Nandi kicks the Indra away. Indra fell unconscious with body pains.

He prayed to the sun god and was relieved from body pains. So, Indra created a pool out of thanks, IndraPushkarini.
