Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple
Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple is the Hindu temple in Kerala’s state capital, Thiruvananthapuram. People consider this as the world’s most valuable place of worship. In Malayalam, ‘Thiruvananthapuram’ means “The City of Lord Ananta” (Lord Vishnu). Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple timings are from 3:30 AM to 7:20 PM. This temple is architecturally similar to the Adikesava Perumal temple in Thiruvattar.
This name refers to the deity of the Padmanabha Swamy temple. The temple is a complex blend of Chera and Malayala Tamilan architectural styles, towers the walls and a 16th-century gopura. While the Ananthapura temple in Kumbla, Kasaragod, is regarded as the deity’s original seat (“Moolasthanam”).
The Temple of Sree Padmanabhaswamy has a long and illustrious history. From any authentic historical texts or other sources, it is impossible to identify with any precision when and who enshrined the Sree Padmanabhaswamy’s original idol.
Epics and Puranas both mention the temple. Balarama has visited this temple, bathed in Padmatheertham, and given various offerings, according to the Srimad Bhagavatha.
Nammalwar is a 9th-century poet and one of the Alvar tradition’s 12 Vaishnavite saints. He has written ten songs in honour of Lord Padmanabha.
Some well-known researchers, writers, and historians, such as Travancore’s late Dr L.A.Ravi Varma, have claimed that this temple existed on the first day of the Kali Yuga (about 5000 years ago).
