The Saptashringi Temple is a two-storied shrine dedicated to the Goddess on the upper floor. The deity’s idol is said to be Swayambhu (self-expressed), which had carved on a stone on the perfect face of the mountain.

She was surrounded by seven (in Sapta-Sanskrit) peaks (in Sringa-Sanskrit), hence the name- Saptashringi Mata (mother of the seven peaks).

The image of the Goddess is very large — about 10 feet long, with 18 arms holding various weapons. The idol always has an acacia coating, considered sacred in this area. The Goddess had been adorned with a high crown, a silver nose ring and a necklace.
