Radha Damodar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Radha and Lord Krishna. The Temple has located in Vrindavan town in the Uttar Pradesh state. In the Temple, Krishna has worshipped as Damodar with his consort Radha. It is one of the seven main Goswami temples of Vrindavan. Timings are 5 am to 9 pm.
The bhajan kutir and Srila Rupa Goswami Samadhi and the Samadhi of Srila Jiva Goswami, Krishnadasa Kaviraja Goswami, Bhugarbha Goswami and the bhajan kutir of Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada are there in the temple complex. Jiva Goswami establishes a library over here. He stored all the original manuscripts of the Goswamis. The Vrindavan Research Institute (VRI) has protected some original libraries, including autographed Rupa Goswami and Sanatana Goswami manuscripts.
Govardhan-sila (Giriraj Shila)
Contents
In this Govardhan-sila, Sanatana Goswami has worshipped. It has Lord Krishna’s footprint and was given to Sanatana Goswami by Krishna Himself. Sanatan was getting old and couldn’t circumambulate the whole Govardhan any more (21 km). Lord Krishna gave him this sila and told him that rounding (parikramas) this sila was as good as circumambulating the whole of Govardhan Hill.
There are imprints of the footprint of Krishna, a walking stick, a flute, and the hoof-print of a calf imbedded in the sila. According to belief, this Temple has four parikramas (circumambulation) equal to one circumambulation of Govardhana Hill.
