The word Vinayaka means “unique leader”. Here, Lord Vinayaka appears with two hands four hands in contrast to the more basic form.
He symbolises the Valampuri structure with his trunk bent to the right. Vinayagar is known as “Karpaga Vinayagar” because it fulfils his enthusiasts’ desires, like the Karpagam tree. It had accepted that a follower who worships Valamburi Vinayagar on the north side would be honoured with riches.
History
It is an ancient stone temple. Scholars say that Ganesha is the head of wisdom, and he is also known as “Karpaga Vinayagar” Because he fulfils the desires of the devotees like the Vinayagar Karpagam tree.
Ganesha is seen with both hands, unlike in other places where there are four hands. Also, he appears as an “Artha Padma” asana with his legs folded without touching the asana and sitting with his stomach unblinking.
The word Vinayaka means “incomparable leader”. Devotees worship Valamburi Ganesha, who faces north and gets all the wealth. The Sri Karpaga Vinayagar temple deity is “Marudeeshwara” (the Marjuna tree in Sanskrit is Arjuna Virutcha, and the botanical name is Terminalia Arjuna).
The sculpture of Pashupatinath, “The cow, offering her milk and worshipping Lord Shiva”, is the speciality of this temple. Kubheran, the head of wealth. And They also worshipped him at this temple. Adding to spirituality, Lakshmidevi, Saraswati and Durga appear together in the same sport.
Unlike other places, the three lingas are Thiruveesar, Marudhisar and Senchadeshwarar. And the three deities Vadamalar Mangaiamman, Sivagami Amman and Soundara Nayaga Amman. All appear in the same place and bless the devotees.
It is believed that by worshipping Goddess Katyayi in this temple, one can get relief from the Sevvai error that prevents women from getting married. Due to the changing times, a person called “Shabda Madhar” was given a unique presence in this temple, and it was called Shakti Sannidhi.
Antiquity: More than 15 inscriptions helped establish the temple’s age. Local mythology published by the temple classifies the growth of the temple into three distinct stages.
Significance of Pillayarpatti Vinayagar
The most popular and revered deity of the rock-cut temple is Karapaga Vinayagar. Karpagam is a kalpavriksha or tree that fulfils desires and is also known as the tree of life in Hinduism and Buddhism. And, since the deity here believes in fulfilling the wishes and prayers of his devotees, he is called Karpaga Vinayagar.
The village is named after Pillaiyar. Hence, it is called Pillayarpatti, and the god Pillayarpatti is called Karpaga Vinayagar. Pillayarpatti Karpaga Vinayagar temple is of particular importance in Tamil Nadu and Hinduism. However, the temple’s main deity is believed to be Lord Shiva, who is in the form of Arjunapurishwarar.
Festivals Celebrated
“Vinayaka Chaturthi” is an important festival celebrated in the village every year on the day of Avani at Karpaga Vinayagar Temple. The festival is celebrated for ten days. The festivities will begin with flag hoisting and wrapping on the first day, and cultural events will be held from the 6th.
During the day and night, Lord Vinayaka paraded through the corridors, seated in different vehicles daily.
1st Day – Silver Muueshika Vahanam.
2nd Day – Simma Vahanam.
3rd Day – Boodha Vahanam
4th Day – Kamala Vahanam.
5th Day – Siver Rishaba Vahanam.
6th Day – Silver Elephant Vahanam Upto Kagamugasura Samkaram And Then In Golden Bandicoot Vahanam.
7th Day – Silver Peacock Vahanam.
8th Day – Horse Vahanam.
9th Day- Car, Elephant Vahanam.
10th Day – Theerthavari will Celebrate In The Morning. During the Night, The Procession Of Five Lords Seated In Silver And Golden Vahanam Will Take Place.
On the occasion of Thiruvadhirai, he held a procession of Sivakama Sundari Samatha Natarajaperuman in the streets. Apart from this, there is a ten-day festival for the village goddess Kongunachiyamman in the month of Vaikashi.
