Bhadkeshwar Mahadev Temple

About five thousand years ago, a Shiva lingam shone in the Arabian Sea, and today, we call it Sri Bhadkeshwar Mahadev Mandir. During June/July, the sea anoints the Shivalinga, and the Temple becomes part of the sea for a while.

On the day of Maha Shivaratri, the most famous festival of the Temple, Shivratri, a great fair was organized around the Temple. The anointing can be offered from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon, but the Temple is always open to the public.

Due to the narrow size of the Garbh-Grah, it is possible to find limited devotees for anointing, so please cooperate with the temple priest. Photography and videography were prohibited in the temple sanctum sanctorum.

The worshipers in the Temple have been priests for generations. The sunset view around the Temple every evening is divine and spectacular, attracting devotees and tourists.

History:

The Shivalingam, carved in the Arabian Sea about 5000 years ago, was built at this place and is known as Sri Bhadkeshwar Mahadev Mandir.

During the monsoon season, the sea anoints the Shivalinga, and the seawater covers the Temple for some time. On the day of Maha Shivaratri, a grand fair was organized at the Temple.
