About Amarnath Yatra 2024:

Amarnath is one of the holiest places for Hindus and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Lakhs of devotees are interested in participating in the Amarnath Yatra and visiting the place during Shravani Mela. This temple has a unique significance, as the cave is accessible only during the Shravani Mela between July – August.

This is 3888 meters, 141 km from Jammu and Kashmir’s capital, Srinagar, through Pahalgam town. This place plays a significant role in the lives of Hindus, where the lord is in the form of ice. The Shivalingam is formed when the ice is collected. At the same time, the water drips down the cave, reaching its maximum height in July – August. Later, the water seeps into the cave and fades away.

This is why this 43-day Yatra is the most awaited trip. It starts on July 1st and ends on August 19th, 2024. Registrations for the Yatra started on April 17th, 2024. Please register before the registrations are closed, as they are on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Legend of Amarnath Temple:

There is a legend about the Amarnath temple that people believe to be true. The legend says that one day, Goddess Parvathi, wife of Lord Shiva, asked him about the secrets of life and death. He decided to tell her, but he could not risk eavesdropping, so they started their journey to the caves in the mountain, which are difficult for lesser people to visit.

As these life-and-death secrets are sacred, all their companions are left behind, where Nandi ate Pahalgam, the Moon at Chandanwari, and the snake around Lord Shiva’s neck at Lake Sheshnag. He carried up the other five elements of life to Panchtarini with his son Lord Ganesha at Mahaguna top. This is the way Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi followed now as the devotees trekked to reach the top of the cave.

People start their Amarnath Yatra not only for holy purposes but also for the magnificent nature and tourist attractions nearby.
