About Amarnath Yatra 2024:

Amarnath is one of the holiest places for Hindus and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Lakhs of devotees are interested in participating in the Amarnath Yatra and visiting the place during Shravani Mela. This temple has a unique significance, as the cave is accessible only during the Shravani Mela between July – August.

This is 3888 meters, 141 km from Jammu and Kashmir’s capital, Srinagar, through Pahalgam town. This place plays a significant role in the lives of Hindus, where the lord is in the form of ice. The Shivalingam is formed when the ice is collected. At the same time, the water drips down the cave, reaching its maximum height in July – August. Later, the water seeps into the cave and fades away.

This is why this 43-day Yatra is the most awaited trip. It starts on July 1st and ends on August 19th, 2024. Registrations for the Yatra started on April 17th, 2024. Please register before the registrations are closed, as they are on a first-come, first-served basis.

The registration process started on April 17th, and the Yatra begins on July 1st and ends on August 17th, 2024. This article outlines the registration process, making it easier for you to register.

The devotees must have some important documents while registering for the Yatra and visiting the place. They are,

How to register for Amarnath Yatra 2024?

As the Amarnath Yatra 2024 registrations are now open, devotees are eager to start their Amarnath trek. Follow the below steps to register online and offline.

Online:

• Firstly, visit the official website of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), which has the application form.
• Select the Application Form icon on the homepage to fill out the form.
• Now, fill out the form with all your details correctly.
• The Health certificate and Photo ID are the most important documents to submit after submitting the requested records.
• Then, pay the registration fee and submit the application form.
• Remember, this is a first-come, first-serve registration process.

Offline:

• Firstly, download the application form and visit the bank branch.
• Then, enter your details in the application form.
• Now attach your essential documents, which include your valid health certificate.
• Next, please submit it to the respective brand using biometric e-KYC authentication.
• There are limited slots for a day in every bank, so be active for the registration.

Registration fee:

Registration for the Amarnath Yatra 2024 is now open. The registration fee is Rs. 150/- per person. The devotee must pay the registration fee when applying and submitting all the documents.

Do’s and don’ts of Amarnath Yatra:

Every pilgrim participating in the Amarnath Yatra must follow the guidelines of the Yatra association. The Dos and Donts are,

Do’s:

• The pilgrim must carry their health certificate, given by the verified doctor in their respective state.
• Your Photo has to be in JPEG or JPG format.
• Submit the health certificate using the PDF form.
• The age of the pilgrim participating in this Yatra has to be between 13 years and 17 years.
• Always carry your documents with you throughout your Yatra.

Don’ts:

• The PDF and the image size must be at most 1 MB.
• Pilgrims below and above 13 to 17 should not register for the Yatra.
• Pregnant women above five months are not allowed.
• It would help if you did not move alone during the Yatra.

How to reach the Amarnath Yatra base?

The pilgrims registered in the Amarnath Yatra 2024 can reach the base with the bus services provided by the State Transport. The bus services run from Jammu to Pahalgam and Baltal, the starting point of the Yatra.

Yatra route

Devotees start their Yatra from Pahalgam, where they can take two routes to reach the cave on the top. One is the shorter but steep trek via Baltal, Domial, Barari and Sangam, with a total of 14 km distance. Pilgrims take 1-2 days to complete the trek where points are not allowed and can only take a walk or use dandies. As this is a steep trek, most people prefer this return route.

Another one is the Long route via Pahalgam, one of the most preferred routes by devotees. The trek is 38 to 40 km long and takes 3-4 days. You can see ponies all around the way. Each route has its safety conditions and facilities, with the help of the Indian Army and the Government.

Accommodation during the Yatra:

The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board has provided the camps with Prefabricated huts and tents to create a comfortable atmosphere. Devotees can stay overnight in Baltal, Nuwan, Sheshnag, and Panjtarni tents. The overnight stay costs between Rs. 250—Rs. 380 per night.

If you are uncomfortable with these, you can also check out the private accommodation tents and camps along the Yatra. These private camps have mattresses, quilts, and pillows, and they cost between Rs.250 and Rs.1000 per night.

Amarnath Yatra in Helocopter:

Some devotees are interested in participating in the Amarnath Yatra, accessible only once a year. But it isn’t easy to go there on foot, so the helicopter Yatra has staging points at the Baltal and Pahalgam Helipads. The price for the Helicopter ride has yet to be released, but one can book five registrations with one debit/credit card.

Once the pilgrims are dropped off at the drop-off point at Panjtarni, 6 km from the Amarnath Cave, it takes 4 hours to complete the trek. Still, it is essential to keep the trek manageable as the temperature reduces for every point.
