According to legends, this temple was built in a single day by devotees Vontudu and Mittudu. After constructing this beautiful 32-pillar temple, both sacrificed their lives and transformed into statues. Lord Jambavantha placed Lord Rama’s Idol in this temple, which consists of Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana’s Idols on a single rock.
Another story is one of the 7 Kansas of the great epic Ramayana, Kishkindakanda, in this region. Another legend says that Rama Sita and Lakshmana spent some time at the time of their exile. Sita felt thirsty. Lord Rama shot an arrow deep into the earth, and sweet water gushed. Later, that water springs into two small tanks named Rama theertham and Lakshmana theertham.
