Vontimitta Kodanda Rama Swamy Temple
Vontimitta Kodanda Rama Swamy Temple: is located in Vontimitta town of Cuddapah district in Andhra Pradesh. The main deity of this temple is Lord Sri Rama along with his consort Seetha Devi. It is one of the famous temples in India where Sita Ramaswamy kalyanam will celebrate at night time in this temple only.
History of Vontimitta Temple:
As per the legends, this temple built in a single day by Vontudu and Mittudu devotees of Lord Rama. After completion of this temple with 32 pillars, they both sacrifice their lives and became a statue. Still today we can see the statues of them at the entrance of the temple.
Jambavantha places the idol of Sri Rama along with Sita devi and Lakshmana on a single rock in this temple. It is one of the few temples in which Lord Sri Rama idol is without Lord Hanuman.
During the Sri Rama Vanavasam Rama along with Sita and Lakshmana spent in this forest. At that time Sita devi felt thirsty to quench from thirsty Rama shot an arrow into the earth by this sweet water gush out. Later two small tanks by name Rama Theertham and Lakshmana Theertham formed.
During the ruling period of Cholas and Vijayanagar dynasties, this temple was built and is renovated by Vijayanagar kings in the 16th century.

Generally, the timings of this temple are as follows:
- Morning: 6:00 am to 1:00 pm and
- Evening: 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
How to reach this temple:
By Air: The nearest airport is in Tirupathi which is at a distance of 112km.
On Rail: Cuddapah, Krishnapuram, and Ontimitta railway stations are nearby railway stations to Vontimitta. So, from there you can reach by road thereafter. However, Tirupati railway station is the major railway station which is at a distance of 106 km near to Vontimitta.
By Bus: Kadappa and obs Kadapa bus stations are nearby bus stations to Vontimitta. So, from there you can reach this temple by local transport. However, APSRTC runs a number of buses from all major cities to here.
