Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple Vepanjeri

Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple Vepanjeri is a very old Vaishnavite temple. In this shrine, Goddess Lakshmi sits on her left thigh and faces towards Lakshmi Narayana Swamy. It is a distinct temple with Pushkarini and Nakstaravana. There are 27 stars having uniquely planted plants separately. Here one can see stars relevant to trees.

Details of Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple Vepanjeri

Vepanjeri is a combination of three words Vem, Pancha, and hari. In Sanskrit language Vem means Sins, Pancha means five and Hari means that destroys. Thus, Vepanjeri means a sacred place where five sins will remove.

The fascinating part about this temple is that Asta Lakshmi temples are in the form of lotus that surrounds Kubera Lakshmi temple and Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple.

Another interesting sight is a 21 feet tall statue near the temple. It was carved in a single stone portraying 10 incarnations of Lord Maha Vishnu.

History of Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple Vepanjeri:

Ruler of Thonda mandalam was a devotee of  Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. He thought of building a temple for the Lord. One day, the Lord appeared in his dreams in the form of light and directed him to Valmikam.

In the year 1780, Kumandu Srinivasa Iyangar helped to renovate the temple. Later he surrendered his complete property to the temple in order to support Nithya Kainkaryam and Abhishekam.

In 1986 temple get again renovate, from then Abhishekam, Nithya Kainkaryams, Brahmotsava is reorganizing at regular intervals.

Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple Timings:

The temple opens at 5 am and closes at 8 pm.

On every Wednesday Abhishekam will perform at 8 am.

How to reach Temple Vepanjeri?

  • Vepanjeri is 15 km away from the Chittoor.
  • Buses are available at high frequency to Vepanjeri from Chittoor bus station.
  • Vepanjeri is 75 km away from the Tirupati.
  • Direct buses are available from Bangalore.
