Peddakakani Temple

Peddakakani Temple is located in Pedakakani village of Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh.

The main deity of this temple is Lord Shiva in the form of Malleswara Swamy along with his wife Parvathi Devi in the form of Bramarambha devi.

And it is also called as Pedakakani Bramarambha Malleswara Swamy Temple.

Pedakakani Bramarambha Malleswara Swamy Temple History:

As per the legends, once Bharadwaja Munni reached this temple apart of his divine journey.

He wishes to perform Yagnam at this place and called Munnis to perform Yagnam. And at the last of Yagnam, he observes that a crow was eating Havisses.

Then he tries to stop the crow but he fails Bharadwaja Munni set on the disappointment of it.

At that time the crow replied he was called by name Kakasura who has got a “Varam” or boon from Lord Brahma to have Havisses after performing Yagnam or penance.

The crow said to perform Abhishekam for it with Panchamruthas so that it can relief by curse because the crow was cursed by a sage.

The crow then turns into white colour and pray the deity with jasmines from then onwards the Lord here is calling as Malleswara Swamy and the place became popular as Kakani.

During the dynasty of Sri Krishna Devaraya in 1440 A.D the Peddakakani Temple was built and it is famous for Rahu Ketu Pooja for the childless couple.

Pedakakani Bramarambha Malleswara Swamy Temple Timings:

Generally, the temple opens at Morning at 5:00 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 8:30 pm.

How to Reach Peddakakani Temple:

By Flight: 

  • Vijayawada airport is nearest to this Peddakakani Temple which is 50 km away.

On Rail:

  • However, Guntur Jn and new Guntur railway station are near to this temple. From there you can reach by road thereafter to Pedakakani.

By Bus: 

  • Guntur and Guntur bypass bus stations are near to Pedakakani. From there you can reach by local transport to the temple.
  • However, APSRTC  runs numbers of buses from all cities to here a frequent number of buses available.
