Marina Beach Lighthouse:

Formerly known as Madras Lighthouse, this structure was built in 1976 and has first lit in 1977. It is also one of the few lighthouses with an elevator and is home to the Meteorological Department.

Until 2013, the lighthouse was not open to public access. The visiting hours are 10 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm daily, except Monday. There is also an entry fee, i.e. Rs 10 for adults and Rs 5 for children below 12. For foreign nationals, the entry fee is Rs 25.
