About Kondagattu Temple
Kondagattu Temple is located in the middle of the hills and forest area of Kondagattu, Muthyumpeta village of Mallial Mandal, Jagityal district. The presiding deity here is Anjaneya Swamy with Lord Venkateswara, Alwaarlu and Lakshmi. The temple is enclosed with the caves and Rayuni fort on the north side. The temple is an ancient temple constructed 500 years ago. Anjaneya Swamy here is Swamyambhoo according to the Shilasasana available on the external wall of the main temple. Devotees here believe that couples who are not having children, mental disability and health diseases come and pray here for 40 days in the temple then their wishes will be fulfilled. The Poojas and rituals performed here to the deities in Chathada Sri Vaishnava Agama Sampradaya.
History of Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple
The story is said that there is a cowherd Singam Sanjeevudu from Kodimyal Village. Once he lost his buffalo and went to the hilly area to search. For taking rest he stopped at a tree and soon fell into sleep. In his sleep, Lord Anjaneya Swamy appeared and told him about his lost buffalo whereabouts Sanjeevudu wake up and started searching as instructed in the dream. He found the Idol of Lord Anjaneya. He started building the shrine there with the help of his wife Ashamma. The temple is popular eventually from then.
Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy is believed as “Sanjeeva” in this region. The Idol of Anjaneya Swamy has faced the north side of the temple. Anjaneya Swamy here is along with Narasimha Vaktram Amburilla and Shanku Chakra. The devotees take Anjaneya Swamy Deeksha here for 11 days, 21 days, and 41 days. The temple went into the custody of the State Endowment Department in the year 1968. Around 160 years ago, the temple was renovated and taken responsibility by Krishna Rao Deshmukh.

Kondagattu temple timings are from 4:30 AM to 8:30 PM and the temple will be closed from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. On Tuesday and Saturday temple will be open from 4:30 AM to 8:30 PM

- Sravana Sapthaha Uthsavam on Sravana Sudha Padyami to Sapthami, special Abishekam, and Poojas are held.
- Pavitramasam during the Shravanamasam.
- Dhanurmasam celebrated for 30 days from Margashira Shudha and Moola Nakshatram.
- On Vykunta Ekadasi, Uthara Dwara Darshanam.
- Sri Sudarshana Yagam is performed on Magha Shudha Panchami.
