How to reach Kedarnath temple

Though the temple is located in the terrain area we can reach the temple in many ways.

Through Airway: The very near airport to reach the temple place is Dehradun Airport. However, it is around 108 km away from the temple. But from there we can reach the temple through local public and private vehicles. Bhuntar Airport in Kulu, Himachal Pradesh is also one of the nearest airports to the temple.

On Rail: There are no train facilities available to reach this place. As there are 2 nearest railways of available to reach Kedarnath, one is in Harrawala about 107km distance and other is Doiwala about 110 km distance.

By Bus: Frequent buses will run from the nearest cities to the Kedarnath regularly. Apart from nearest places, People throughout the country can visit the temple by the private vehicle as apart in the Chardham yatra also. If not we can reach Kedarnath by first reaching Delhi, where buses will run to Haridwar from Delhi every 1/2 hour. After reaching Haridwar, buses are available to reach Gaurikund on an everyday morning.

After reaching Gaurikund, we have to trek to reach the temple in the new way constructed by NIM of India. Because the old route was destroyed by the floods in Kedarnath in 2013.

How to reach Kedarnath temple

The temple route is in the form of Trekking route. This trekking route is about 15 – 16 km distance. In addition, horses and palanquins also available for rent to reach the temple. From Gaurikhund to Rambara Bridge the distance is about 6 km

  • Rambara Bridge – Jungle Chatti (4 km)
  • Jungle Chatti – Bheembali (3 km)
  • Bheembali – Linchauli (4 km)
  • Linchauli – Kedarnath Base Camp (4 km)
  • Kedarnath Base Camp – Kedarnath Temple (1 km)
